80% of Office Moving Company Searches Still Take Place on Desktop
06 Nov 2020
In today’s mobile world, you would think that office managers and business owners would search for office moving services using their cell phone or tablet.
And, while that does certainly happen, 80% of searches for Office Movers of Florida’s commercial moving services are done while someone is sitting at their desk using a laptop or desktop computer.
That provides some insight into how decision makers at companies across Tampa and around Florida are working these days. Generally, they’re still sitting at a desk somewhere – whether it’s at an actual office setting – or in a work from home or work remote setting.
We would imagine that most office related purchases then are still made on a desktop or laptop (and not on mobile) – office cleaning, shopping for office supplies or shopping for commercial real estate shopping.
Importantly too, as we provide on-site visits to provide estimates to our clients, we know people are still in office spaces. Not everyone is remote!
And while work from home (WFH) is popular now, especially due to the impact of Covid-19, we don’t see that trend completely turning the commercial real estate industry on its head.
In a Business Observer article, the head of commercial real estate brokerage firm Cushman & Wakefield believes the COVID-19 pandemic will double the number of people in the U.S. who permanently work remotely from home or other locations.
Cushman & Wakefield Chairman and CEO Brett White says the overwhelming majority of U.S. office workers, however, will eventually shift back into pre-COVID-19 routines in terms of occupancy.
“We think as much as 10%, 11%% of the workforce could be at home permanently,” White says earlier this month in an interview with CNBC.
“But 10% is a lot less than 90%, and 90% are going to be in offices in one form or another,” White adds.
The question of future office occupancy and usage has been swirling since March, when the coronavirus prompted lockdowns and self-quarantining. In the months since, analysts have predicted that U.S. office occupancy would decrease dramatically as more workers shift to remote working. Many other companies also wonder about the impact of salaries on companies impacted by Covid.
Joe Kager at the POE Group, an executive compensation consulting firm in Tampa says, that, “the actions companies take with regard to employee base salaries will speak to the overall financial health of the organization, as well as how the company intends to position base pay within its total rewards strategy. It is important to consider this message carefully, as it could impact employee morale, retention, and hiring capability far beyond the end of the pandemic.”
We’ll see how the remainder of 2020 plays out with work from home and salary decreases for many workers here in Tampa.
