Does your office moving company assemble cubicles and workstations?

12 Nov 2012

Congratulations! Over the past weeks or months, you have been planning your Tampa office relocation. You are on the cusp of choosing your office moving company and feel you have asked all the right questions: Are they licensed, bonded and insured? Do they have the necessary equipment to transport your office? How much will you pay?

These are indeed important questions, but have you consulted your movers about their expertise when it comes to assembling or disassembling workstations and cubicles? If you are planning to use your existing office workstations or cubicles at your new office, it is important to remember the movers should do more than just move the equipment. If they lack the experience necessary to take down at your old place and setup at your new place, you may be left with damaged furniture or setbacks in getting your office back in business.

Ask the following questions before you make your final decision on who should move your furniture:

  1. Does your moving company offer design and layout advice? Taking down and reconstructing the furniture is a must, but knowing how your items will fit into your new space will give you peace of mind.
  1. Ask your Tampa Bay movers how they go about inventorying your workstation or cubicle parts. Let’s face it, projects with many parts can mean loss of parts between locations. Make sure your team is cautious to inventory those parts
  1. What sort of training do the employees receive? Moving and lifting is certainly a skill, but if the movers aren’t trained on disassembly and assembly, the process may take longer than planned.
  1. What sort of tools do they use? The right tools mean a faster job and a job well done. Inquire as to what tools are used.
  1. Do the movers warranty their work? Finally, after all the planning and worrying, you are in your new space. The movers have left and your employees are getting back to work. What happens if your newly assembled office furniture comes apart or falls down? Will the movers return to address the problem?
