The Humane Society of Manatee County, a nonprofit with a mission to lead the community in fostering compassion and respect for animals through care, education and collaboration, has successfully transitioned its spay and neuter clinic to a renovated 10,000-square-foot existing building on its campus at 2415 14th St. W. in Bradenton.

The updated building, the third on the nonprofit’s campus, opened September 8, 2015 and also acts as a training and wellness center.

The Humane Society of Manatee County has completed more 30,000 spay and neuter surgeries since 2009. Since the new facility opened, the nonprofit has performed 520 spray and neuter surgeries with many more appointments for its wellness services.

These surgeries are considered the best method of prevention of pet overpopulation and also address many of the behaviors that cause pet owners to surrender their pets.

Completed by J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp., a commercial construction company that offers a full range of construction management services, the $830,000 facelift included gutting and renovating the interior and exterior of the standing building – a former Salvation Army retail store.
