Technology Company Recently Relocated Office Headquarters to Tampa

commercial relocationAnother positive sign that Tampa (and Florida in general) are good landing spots for tech company relocations, OPSWAT has recently moved its headquarters to office space near the Florida State Fairgrounds.

According to its website, OPSWAT provides, cybersecurity solutions to identify, detect, and remediate advanced security threats from data and devices coming into and out of enterprise networks.

A recent article in the Business Observer relays that, “in wooing a Silicon Valley cybersecurity company to move its headquarters to Tampa, the region both swatted away heavy competition and a rebuffed a long-standing myth about the Sunshine State.

On the former, Benny Czarny, founder and CEO of the company that relocated its headquarters from San Francisco to Tampa, OPSWAT, says the firm looked at North Carolina and other sites. On the latter, Czarny, with experience working in Israel, California and other worldwide locales, says Florida isn’t what some non-Floridians might think — at least as a place to grow a business. “Florida is not just a retiree state,” Czarny tells Coffee Talk. “Tampa is actually a pretty cool place.”

In another move that’s somewhat of a myth-buster, Czarny says one of several reasons the company chose Tampa was the region’s strong tech workforce. That’s something a CEO — particularly one in Czarny’s position, running a fast-growing firm with more than 1,000 customers, 350 employees and 10 offices worldwide — probably wouldn’t have said about Tampa five years ago. The company plans to hire some 100 employees in Tampa over the next three years to support the growth, according to a statement.”

The corridor along US-301 and I-4 (and very close to I-75) is home to hundreds of businesses, many of which are located in commercial and industrial office parks. In fact, Office Movers of Florida is also headquartered in this area. The area is centrally located – near downtown Tampa, close to St. Petersburg and Clearwater, and only an hour and a half from Orlando. For many businesses, that access to interstates and highways is a key benefit of their office space location.

In fact, the Tampa Bay Economic Development Corporation, which played a role in persuading OPSWAT to relocate to Tampa outlines some other key benefits of the greater Tampa area, including:

  • Access to 34 million consumers within an 8-hour drive
  • Home to Florida’s largest seaport, Port Tampa Bay
  • Nonstop service to 90+ domestic and international destination via the Tampa Bay Airport
